Appointmint vs iMED

iMED, from ACIN, is clinical software with medicine prescribing, diagnostic test requests, access to the national patient registry, and apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. If your clinic prescribes, this is the hardest comparison on this list for us — and it is worth starting there rather than hiding it at the bottom of the page.

Different categories, and it is only fair to say so first. If the purchase is decided by certified prescribing, diagnostic test requests or the national patient registry, iMED does things today that we do not. Our integration with the Portuguese health service's PEM platform is built and coming soon, but we hold no clinical certification of our own. Below that line, compare the rest — that is where the differences start running our way.

Where iMED is stronger than us

  • Certified prescribing and diagnostic test requests, plus access to the national patient registry, working today. It is the hardest advantage to argue with on this entire list.
  • A native app for iPhone and iPad, working today. Our iPhone version is coming soon.
  • A vendor operating since 1999 with declared management certifications. In an institutional purchase, that counts.

Where Appointmint is stronger

  • The operational and commercial side of a clinic. Pipelines, automations, WhatsApp on the clinic's own number, payment links, direct debits, packages, stock and AI — we found no equivalent public coverage on iMED's side.
  • Records the clinic designs: configurable fields, forms, surveys, consents and clinical reports from templates, with the Scriber drafting the session.
  • Packages with an automatic balance, subscriptions, direct debits, payment links and protocol pricing, with the client's balance moving on its own.
  • Automatic patient communication, which is not publicly described at iMED.
  • A client portal and kiosk check-in, so reception stops repeating what the client can do alone.
  • You know what it costs before speaking to anyone. iMED does not publish current pricing; we publish plans, limits and add-ons, with thirty days and no card.

A versatile and complete solution, supported by a very available and committed team.

When iMED is the right choice

A doctor, clinic or institution where prescribing, requesting tests or consulting the national patient registry is a condition of entry. In that case do not compare on price: compare on what the law and clinical practice require of you.

When we are the right choice

Clinics where the real problem is operational — no-shows, phone calls, packages, invoicing, following up clients — and where prescribing either does not happen or is not what decides.

Frequently asked questions

Will Appointmint have electronic prescribing?+

The integration with the Portuguese health service's PEM platform is built and coming soon: prescription submission, medicine search and prescriber signing by Chave Móvel Digital or Citizen Card. It is switched on per eligible clinic. What we do not have, and do not promise for a date, is clinical certification of our own.

Can I use both at the same time?+

Some clinics do, with the clinical software for the medical act and something else for operations. Ask yourself whether you want to keep two records of the same patient: if the answer is no, choose on the requirement you cannot go without.

Is Appointmint an alternative to iMED?+

It depends on what decides your purchase. If it is running the clinic — diary, packages, invoicing, communication — then yes. If it is certified prescribing, diagnostic requests or public agreements, then no, and this page says so at the top. If you do switch, data migration is free and we do it, not you: tell us what has to come across — clients, appointments, history, packages, invoicing — and before we start we will tell you what we can bring and what we cannot.

A note on method

This analysis was carried out by an artificial intelligence agent, under explicit instructions to be impartial, to cite only public sources, and to record what it could not confirm rather than filling it in with something plausible. It was then reviewed by us, and whatever is said here about Appointmint has to hold up in the product.

The research closed on 12 September 2026. Products change and so do prices — always confirm with the vendor before deciding.
